But Kenny Jackett is delighted the forward is firing on all cylinders for Bromley as he furthers his chances of establishing himself at Fratton Park in the future.

Hackett-Fairchild rejoined the Ravens on loan in September – only nine months after his move to the Blues for an undisclosed fee.

Having made just one appearance at Pompey, the plan was for the ex-Charlton man to get playing regularly again at the National League outfit.

After an initial spell on the sidelines with a groin injury, Hackett-Fairchild’s now doing just that. He’s netted twice in his past four games, with his effort against Maidenhead a thunderbolt of a strike, and helped Bromley move up to third.

The 22-year-old’s loan at Hayes Lane expires on January 3.

Jackett admitted he’ll assess whether to recall or extend Hackett-Fairchild’s Ravens spell closer to that time.

And the Pompey manager will continue to keep a close eye on his progress.

Jackett said: ‘Reeco scored a great goal playing on the right and coming in on his left foot.

‘It's good to see him getting into a rhythm and playing football on a regular basis.

‘It looks like he is started to affect games and, in the long run, it will only be good for Pompey.

‘We'll see (what happens with his future). There are a lot of games between now and then so we have to see how our squad is.

‘Reeco is in a good place at the moment. With the lockdown and the injury before the lockdown, he was caught in circumstances where he didn't play for the best part of a year.

‘That made it very difficult for him and he needed to get back playing regularly.

‘He's starting for Bromley, effecting the game very well and we are very pleased with him.

‘In terms of January, we will see what happens between now and then and will see what happens with our own squad.

‘The quality of the player is high. I think he is a very good player.’

Hackett-Fairchild is included in Pompey’s 22-man squad amid new salary cap rules.

But with only Michael Jacobs presently out injured, and closing in on his return to fitness, Jackett’s happy Hackett-Fairchild to keep featuring frequently at Bromley.

He added: ‘Even if you're looking at our attacking players, there are seven players for four positions, which is strong.

‘If we have Reeco ticking along in the background then that is good for us. He is included in our 22-man squad, which is key.’
