And the Blues boss will be ready to make more changes if he senses the intensity of his players is ebbing.

There was a further six switches against Arsenal from the side who defeated Rochdale last Friday.

Now Pompey start a run of five games in 15 days at Peterborough, amid their gruelling run of 13 games in six weeks.

And Jackett will be looking out for any signs energy levels are dropping in that period.

He said: ‘We have good availability. That’s what I like about it.

‘Clear, consistent selection is the optimum but sometimes you know, even if you can name your best side, if there’s no energy, no spark and no brightness in their eyes results won’t necessarily follow.

‘I felt after Fleetwood, I didn’t think we were miles off them, it was a close game.

‘But I did think our side lacked energy. That was my feelings.

‘I didn’t think we were at full pelt and we needed energy going into the Tuesday,

‘Then off the back of Tuesday-Friday-Monday it was very unlikely the side was going to stay the same.’

Christian Burgess begins a two-game suspension at Peterborough after amassing 10 yellow cards.

But he and Bryn Morris, who’s closing in on a return from his abdomen injury are the only absences at present, with Jackett pleased with the options at his disposal.

Jackett added: ‘We’re missing Christian, but after that, we’re okay. That’s a big thing.

‘If you’re limited to the same XI or haven’t got fresh subs, they’re things you need.

‘With one or two tweaks along the way if people have knocks or haven’t got the energy, there’s no reason why we can’t attack the fixture list - and enjoy the challenge.

‘I believe in clear, consistent formation and clear, consistent team selection.

‘When you’re successful you have to work towards those two things. Then, when you get it, you try to keep it.

‘We’d want all of our players to understand the formation and where we expect them to be rigid - and where they have to be flexible. They’re big things.

‘We need our team to stay the same even if we make changes.

‘The period ahead we would all want to be involved in - player, manager and coach - at the end of the season. It’s a great chance for us.’
