Hide AdKenny Jackett planned on appealing the decision after the game and has confirmed the Blues have done so.
The Pompey boss revealed the FA's disciplinary panel are set to meet at around 2pm and decide whether Thompson will be available for Saturday's trip to Barnsley.
If the decision stands then the 23-year-old will also miss the Blues' games vital clash against Sunderland (December 22) and trip to Gillingham (December 26).

Despite the uncertainty over whether he'll travel to Oakwell, Thompson has remained calm during the process.
