The Pompey forward has been handed a place in Martin O'Neill's 32-man set up ahead of his side's upcoming games against Denmark (October 13) and Wales (October 16) in Dublin.

Curtis has been in rampant form since arriving at Fratton Park from Derry City in June.

The 22-year-old has registered six goals and five assists, playing an indispensable role in helping Kenny Jackett's side reach the top of League One after 11 matches.

He was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw.

Curtis is capped for his country at under-21 level. They play Israel (October 13) and Germany (October 16) later this month.

It means the former Swilly Rovers junior will almost certainly miss two Pompey matches.

He's likely to be absent for the Checkatrade Trophy clash at Crawley on Tuesday and the League One trip to AFC Wimbledon next Saturday.

Former Blues left-back Enda Stevens is also included in the Ireland squad.
