Home captain Sam Pearce felt his team were good value for their win against the side that top the Southern League Division 1 South table.

'We were disappointed to go in at the break a goal down,' said Pearce.

'The feeling was that we hadn't played badly and that we were very much still in the game.

'Once we got the equaliser soon after the break it gave us the lift we wanted.

'It allowed us to grab the momentum.

'At that stage, though, our goalkeeper Jake Hallett kept us on level terms with an unbelievable save.

'Their lad hit a volley from seven yards but somehow Jake clawed it out of the top corner.

Marley Ridge was unlucky early on, latching onto a Joe Briggs cross but crashing his shot against the bar.

It was the visitors that drew first blood, Brad Wilson nodding down a diagonal pass for Ben Cook to stab the ball home from ten yards.

Stoke still held their lead at the break but Roberts struck twice in the second period to put Moneyfields on the front foot.

First he finished off a neat move, placing his shot across keeper Julian Schwarzer.

Then, ten minutes from the end, Roberts raced clear onto a long ball over the top from Connor Bailey and slotted home the winner.

Pearce praised the impact Roberts has made since joining Moneyfields in the summer after spells with higher division Wimborne and Blackfield last season.

'Kieran is doing well and most of all scoring goals,' he said.

'He is big, strong, powerful and quick.

'(Fellow striker) Steve Hutchings occupies their central defenders and that creates the space for Kieran to operate.

'We have had a change of philosophy this season.

'In the past we tended to be physical and bully opponents.

'This season the gaffer has gone for a few younger players with pace.'

Moneyfields: Hallett, Bailey, Raine, Da Costa, Pearce, Briggs (Barker), Ridge, Hutchings, Dinsmore, Lafleur, Roberts.
