Tom Eaves and Alex Lacey's strikes created an unassailable lead, despite the Blues' improved second-half showing.

That coincided with Thompson introduced off the bench along with David Wheeler at the interval.

And the Millwall loanee admitted little went the Blues' way.

He said: '˜We've been on a fantastic run , you can't keep it going the whole season, you are going to have days when it just doesn't quite go for you.

'˜Today was one of those '“ nothing was falling for us, the ball was going over, wide, hitting players and it didn't drop for us.

'˜We have to carry on, keep the form going.

'˜It's only one loss in 12 games so there's no reason why we shouldn't keep our heads held high and go into Monday's training and be ready for next week.

'˜It didn't go our way, we were playing all right football, throughout the game were on top most of it.

'˜We gave away a couple of goals we shouldn't have, that's football, it's not going to go for you every week. You've just got to take that on the chin and learn from it.'
