Shaun Gale’s squad have picked up only four points from the last possible 21, slumping to 15th in the Premier South.

Dan Wooden’s late leveller rescued a 2-2 draw in last Saturday’s home fixture with Dorchester Town.

But Gale knows the fixture list has provided Boro with the chance to improve on a poor run of just one win in the league since late August.

Gosport welcome sixth-bottom Harrow Borough to Privett Park on Wednesday before travelling to rock bottom Hendon at the weekend.

The following Saturday takes them to Beaconsfield, currently one place below Boro in 16th.

‘We need to pick up some points, simple as that,’ stated Gale.

‘We need to impose ourselves on games and cut out the silly mistakes.

‘It’s frustrating because performances have been good. We just need some consistent performances for 90 minutes.’

Gale admits he hasn’t been able to field his strongest side at all in 2022/23. And injuries will definitely sideline Matt Briggs and Andreas Robinson again when Harrow visit, though Pompey loanee Harry Jewitt-White could be available after a groin problem.

Experienced midfielder Danny Hollands is definitely back in contention after serving a one-game ban against Dorchester for collecting five cautions.

That gives Gale a selection headache, after praising debutant loanee Reece Wylie and Harvey Rew for their central midfield displays at the weekend.

‘It would be nice to have a run of 5-10 games when you’re just making the odd change,’ said Gale. ‘That’s how you get consistency.

‘I haven’t been able to put out my strongest side once. That’s not an excuse, it’s a fact - and it’s massively frustrating for me as a manager.

‘We’ve not been able to achieve a settled side and that’s probably why we’ve been a bit of a yo-yo side.’

Gale, though, was encouraged by the ‘fantastic’ second half display against Dorchester after Boro had trailed 2-0 at the interval.

A large crowd of 787 were present and the boss said: ‘If we play like we did in the second half (v Dorchester) they will keep coming.

‘I think at my first game there were only about 100 - that (improvement in attendances) is not down to me, it’s down to the players, the chairman and the staff.’

Harrow made a dismal start to the Southern League season, drawing their opening two matches before losing their next five.

They have since pulled themselves away from the relegation zone, though they have lost their last two league games at Swindon Supermarine and at home to Plymouth Parkway.
