B team have the last laugh to claim Cowplain club pride over Misfits

Cowplain B took the club pride when they took on rivals Cowplain Misfits by sealing a 7-5 victory.

Ted Dowse took both of his frames to hand Misfits a strong start.

But that was quickly cancelled out by the B team captain Doug Powell with the next three games shared.

It went down to the last game where Gary Curtis held his nerve by picking up his two frames to win the match for Cowplain B.

There was no separating Broadoak and Waterlooville B as they battled out a 6-6 draw.

Mike Harmer and Simon Cornwell both won their matches to give Broadoak a convincing start.

Waterlooville hit back, though, as Colin Johnson and Kelvin Connor matches the two that their opponents had won.

But neither Simon Fleming or Matt Johnson could be split as it ended in a draw.

Cowplain Gas remain on the heels of Emsworth in the runners-up spot after their close fought 7-5 win against Waterlooville Butler Boys.

James Williamson got the Boys off to a strong start winning both his frames.

Unfortunately for the Butler Boys, that was as good as it got as the next two matches were drawn.

It was left up to the ever-reliable Paul Lees and Neil Kirby, who both won their games and the four frames to fire Gas to victory.

Emsworth B are still top of the table but were made to fight to claim a 7-5 triumph over Alex Bowls.

Matt Sheath started things off for the bowlers and was backed up by team-mate Ian Cotton.

Emsworth hit back through Chester Bailey to reduce the deficit.

The game would have ended in a draw but for Emsworth's Jim Baldwin and Paul Merrett winning their frames.

Craneswater Dancy came away 7-5 victors in their trip to LPWMC.

For Leigh Park, Danny Lumsden made sure he got his side off to a good start by winning both of his frames.

The Craneswater team hit back as Ioan Moon dragged them level by winning a brace of frames.

It was was left up to Paul Garside, who was new to the Craneswater side this year, to take his frame for the victory.

Craneswater A seized on the opportunity to take over from Waterlooville at the top with a 7-5 win against Bellair A.

Rob Kirby won his two frames and this was helped by fellow team-mate Pedro Ferguson, who won his game, to put Craneswater in a strong position.

It was then left to Rob's dad, Mick, to take them over the winning line.

Craneswater A & E beat bottom team Cowplain Z 8-4.

Dave Rees did what he had to do by winning his frames for Cowplain.

Copnor upped their game with Steve Toms, Mick Hall and captain Scott Compton giving them a well deserved victory.

Emsworth A kept up the pace for second spot by beating Copnor D 8-4.

Greg Harding and Tommy O’Neil claimed both their frames to put Emsworth 4-0 ahead.

But Andy Hall halved the frame deficit for Copnor.

A Bobby Terry break of 34 proved crucial as he took Emsworth over the winning line.

In the final match in Division 1, Portchester X ran out victorious against Craneswater Z.

The ever-reliable Adrian Binding won two frames for Craneswater.

But that was it as Andy Macey, Matt James and captain courageous Jason Tame all won their games to put Portchester on the brink of victory.

Craneswater's Mark Jones held them up as he won his match.

That just delayed the win for Portchester, though, as Mark Kingswell took Portchester home.

It was first-versus-second in Division 2 as Post Office and Craneswater R shared a 6-6 draw.

Pete Parsons won his game for Craneswater, but this was cancelled out after James Green collected two frames.

Matt Paffett made a 31 break but had to share the frames.

Post Office got back on track as Dan Wells put his side in the driving seat.

But captain Grant Vernon rescued a draw for Craneswater.

It's getting tight at the bottom with two teams from three looking like facing the drop.

In the latest round of games, North End Bowls had to share the points after a 6-6 draw with Copnor E.

Adrian Pledge took his two frames for the Bowls but this was cancelled out as Derek Foster, making a 31 break, got Copnor level.

Phil Ledington put Copnor ahead, only for Mike Dorey to match him up and hitting a 47 break.

It was a battle of two Waterlooville sides as the C team took on the D team.

It was the C team who claimed the inter-club honours, running out 8-4 victors.

For Waterlooville D, Russ Linkhorn and Bill Phillips both took two frames for their team.

That was as good as it got with Waterlooville C giving thanks to Barry Woolley and Gary Wilton for taking their frames.

It was was left to the father and son partnership of Rob Derry junior and senior who finished the game off winning both of their matches.

Bellair X are looking to get into the top two after their close match with bottom side Pompey Royals.

For the Royals, Paul Chivers was on form by making a 34 break and this was backed up as Jon Challacombe, who made 52.

Trevor Sanders came to the rescue for Bellair, pulling two frames back.

It was left up to Paul Ashmore who held his nerve at the end by winning his match to take his team to victory.

Craneswater Q are still looking for the runners-up spot after winning 8-4 against Waterlooville Xcels.

For the Xcels, the highlight was Sam Laxton, who made a 30 break to win his match.

Craneswater Q gave thanks to Leon Kelley and team-mates Ian Russell and at the end, Tony Lee, who gave their team an unassailable lead as they look up to the top three.
