Five-star Will Henderson makes it home first in Southsea parkrun

There were high fives all round for Will Henderson after he made it home first in the Southsea parkrun.

The 20-24 age group category runner led the way in the latest event, crossing the finish line in a time of 16:57.

It was Henderson’s sixth visit to the Southsea course and he has never been outside of the top two in any of those.

In fact, his first-placed finish in the event was the fifth time that he has made it home in the quickest time.

A large field of 534 completed the course as the numbers continue be high for those taking part on the seafront.

Havant Athletics Club’s Craig Berryman was second across the finish line (18:06).

Sean Childs of Royal Navy Athletics Club completed the top three, coming home in a time of 18:13.

Portsmouth Joggers Club member Elle McMeehan was the first female across the finish line (21:17).

n First timers needed no time to get to grips with the Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun.

In the latest event, five of the top 10 finishers – including three of the first four – were all on their maiden visit to the course.

Victory Athletics Club’s Owen Jones led the way at Portsmouth Lakeside.

On his first visit to the course, he came home first in a time of 19:13.

Second-placed finisher Lee Clackett recorded a personal best time of 19:21.

First timers Sean Bendell – in third (19:23) – and Harpenden Arrows Running Club’s Lee Scott (19:33) made up the top four.

Nikki Moxham, who was seventh (19:46) and Robert Ewart – in ninth (20:12) – were also making maiden visits to the Portsmouth Lakeside course.

n Experienced parkrun member Thomas Hoskinson was the first of 274 finishers home in the Havant event.

Taking part in his 170th event, his time of 18:32 was enough to see him cross the finish line first.

City of Portsmouth Athletics Club’s Toby Brimecome made it home nine seconds later while Adam Barlow made up the top three (18:55).
