The game is preceded by an ex-players lunch which is likely to boost the attendance by a couple of hundred as Havant seek a 10th successive home league win this season.

Senior coach Will Knight is anticipating a thrilling afternoon of rugby in front of a vociferous home support.

Table-topping Havant are also defending an unbeaten home record, but third-placed Camberley will pose a huge threat.

‘This is a huge game for both teams,’ said Knight.

‘Obviously, we are looking for the win to maintain our position at the top.

‘It would also make it more difficult for Camberley to catch us.

‘At the same time, a win for them would see them close the gap and possibly allow Westcombe Park to leapfrog above us.

‘It is that tight at the top and likely to remain so in the closing weeks.

‘We were disappointed by our defeat at Thurrock because we thought it was a game we could win.

‘The important thing is to learn from it and play the conditions better.

‘Camberley are a good side and have reinforced the team through their links with the academy at Ealing Trailfinders.’

Havant field an unchanged three-quarter line but make a few changes in the forwards.

Jerome Trail returns to his regular position at hooker with Dan Munden also back at number eight.

This means Will Brock can revert to the back-row.

Second row forward Harrison Young faces a fitness test but the hosts have Ross Parkin returning to the club and likely to feature amongst the replacements.

But Knight accepts Havant face a tough run-in.

‘The key for us is to make sure that we maintain our focus and don't think too far ahead,’ he added.

‘There should be a great atmosphere and the players do seem to be inspired by the home support.

‘On our surface at home, we want to go out and play our style of attacking, open rugby.

‘If we can do that and be accurate with it, then we can be a handful for anybody.

‘At the same time, Thurrock showed that we have to adapt to the conditions.

‘We tried to play too much rugby in the wrong areas in that game.

‘Remaining unbeaten at home is important to us and something that we are keen to maintain.’

Havant have won all nine home league games this season, with their most recent victory - a 92-24 hammering of Dartfordians - the most comprehensive.

At the opposite end of the scale, Havant only beat Medway 11-10 in October and Cobham 27-24 last month.
