Bradbury: Hampshire Senior Cup win was '˜like pulling teeth'

Lee Bradbury insisted the Hawks '˜got away with murder' against Moneyfields in the Hampshire Senior Cup.

The Westleigh Park boss looked on as a 93rd-minute Alfie Pavey goal earned the defending champions a 1-0 victory over their Southern League division one south visitors.

Bradbury admitted it was frustrating to watch as he National League side failed to make their extra quality count.

He made eight changes to the side which lost to Sutton United on Saturday.

But reckons very few of those who came in made a convincing case for a spot in his first team. 

Bradbury said: '˜It was like pulling teeth. We got away with murder!

'˜It was a frustrating evening with Moneyfields sitting in behind the ball and making it hard for us.

'˜We should be able to deal with that but we didn't move the ball well enough.

'˜We didn't play with enough intensity or enough intelligence and at the same time the work-rate was not what we expect.

'˜These are all the ingredients that win you games week in, week out.

'˜When we got ourselves into good positions our final ball was awful.

'˜Even though we won the game, we were very poor.

'˜This was an opportunity for some of the players out there to show me why they should be in the team.

'˜Not many '“ if any '“ did that.

'˜Rarely do I criticise my team in public but we were just not good enough.'
