Coronavirus lockdown: The Portsmouth Puzzle jigsaw is a great way to spend time indoors

Hi, I’m Rachel Lowe, a Portsmouth-based board game and jigsaw puzzle designer. If you’re looking for something to do whilst self-isolating and social distancing, doing jigsaw puzzles or playing board games are a great way to pass the time.

It is important to stay mentally stimulated whilst you’re staying at home.

Puzzles are a good solo activity, but can also be done as a household team effort. Just make sure you don’t Hoover up any pieces if you’re deep cleaning (another activity lots of us are doing!).

Board games are also proving popular right now. Usually their time to shine is over the Christmas period, but with families looking for things to do they are set to be the perfect Easter offering.

Just be mindful of those classic board game arguments, as you have to stay on lockdown with your fellow players!

There are so many games and puzzles out there to choose from. If you have some at home, get them out of the cupboard and dust them off.

Or if you fancy something new, The Portsmouth Puzzle, which has a 1000-piece edition and a 200-piece junior edition, is ideal.

You’ll recognise many of our local attractions that we can visit once things settle down and we’re allowed out again.

Stay home, stay safe and stay positive.
