Fireworks planned for Portsmouth Christmas light switch-on

CHRISTMAS cheer will come to Portsmouth this week as the city switches on its festive lights.

Lord Mayor Councillor Ken Ellcome and Father Christmas will be joined by the stars of the Kings Theatre pantomime Snow White to turn on the city’s illuminations in Commercial Road.

The event is taking place on Thursday evening from 4pm to 6.30pm.

Dance groups will be providing entertainment for the occasion, which will also feature a German-style Chri stmas market, complete with food and drink stalls.

The switch-on ceremony will be followed by a small fireworks display, weather permitting.
