It's time for 10 days celebrating art and culture

THE city's annual celebration of arts and culture returns tomorrow.

There will be more than 100 events taking place over the next 10 days under the banner of the Portsmouth Festivities.

From theatre, to poetry, via artists’ exhibitions, music of many genres and talks by experts in their fields, there will be plenty of events.

There will also be workshops and the chance for the public to join in.

Proceedings kick off tomorrow evening with a concert at Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral by London Contemporary Orchestra, which has been working with Portsmouth Grammar School’s musicians.

That will be immediately followed by a light show from Luxmuralis on the outside of the cathedral.

Other events include the Spice Island Arts Trail in Sunday, Poems on a Plate in Like a Tea Tray in The Sky in Southsea on Wednesday, and historian Andy Robertshaw giving talks on The Battle of The Somme and the making of the hit film War Horse at the D-Day Museum in Southsea on Tuesday.
