Review: The Classic Rock Show at the Guildhall, Portsmouth

Well, I wasn't expecting that. When I turned up to the Guildhall and saw how few people had turned up to watch the show, I was concerned about what might be in store.

It was by far the emptiest I’d seen the venue, which turned out to be a shame.

The Classic Rock Show was effectively a live jukebox of rock classics, performed by a small team of singers and musicians.

No set, no gimmicks, just pure performance.

From Led Zeppelin to Pink Floyd, AC/DC to Dire Straits, fans of the genre would not be disappointed.

The audience were loving it from start to finish. My friend turned to me and said ‘Is he miming?’ My answer – no.

Ricardo Afonso was THAT good, he has insane vocals and an amazing falsetto.

The highlight of the night was Adam Gee’s storming rendition of Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell.

With everyone on their feet for the finale, the night ended on a high.

The crowd were small but mighty. I only hope that if the show returns, the ticket sales improve.

It’s the least these talented performers deserve.
