WATCH: Choirs perform in emotional viral video

A video of three choirs performing an emotional rendition of Cold Play's '˜Fix You' in Southampton has gone viral online.

The flashmob, which featured Sing Now Choir who have a Fareham group, surprised shoppers in Southampton’s West Quay shopping centre.

A video of the performance was posted by Dan Cooper Music on Facebook and has since been viewed almost 400,000 times. It also featured singers from Love Soul Choir and SingForce.

The video shows a lone piano player and singer unexpectedly start to perform the song before other members of the choirs came forward from within the crowd to join in.

Shoppers were visibly moved by the performance, the song striking an emotional chord with many.

In an interview at the end of the video, Mr Cooper, who is a professional singer and vocal coach, said the performance was about bringing people together.

‘I think we can always do more to feel connected to one another,’ he said.

‘Especially with the use of phones and technology, you’re always isolated to your own life and your own world.

‘But something like that, when you’re singing together, you’re not using your phone, you’re just connecting with the people around you and singing, I think is a really powerful thing.’
