CHIPPER CLUB: Grace wins our contest to be a critic for the Kings Theatre

Grace Fincham, 11, has won our competition to become the Kings Theatre's junior reviewer for 2017

Well done to everyone who entered with their paw-some writing, but the biggest congratulations go to 11-year-old Grace Fincham, who wrote a chip-tacular review of her favourite book, Chocolates and Flowers by Cathy Cassidy, which you can read below:

Have you ever felt attached to a character? Like they’re real? That’s how I felt when I read Chocolates and Flowers, known as Alfie’s Story.

In Alfie’s Story, we experience his emotions through the powerful language. His troubles feel real because of the language and the detail that his life is in. It’s hard not to fall head-over-heels for Alfie. You can’t help but love his determination to make his plan work, and his love for Summer Tanberry is so true that your heart melts a little.

Though this book is full of happiness there is an sense of sadness in Alfie’s life. His girlfriend is suffering so Alfie tries his best to fill the gaps in her life with a big valentine’s birthday surprise.

This tale is a heartfelt story about a boy who was never seen and when he is, it’s for the saddest of reasons. I recommend this story to people who like a tale of all different genres, except horror.

As the winner of our competition, Grace will get to see shows at the Kings throughout 2017, including Cirque de Glace, and the Easter pantomime Beauty And The Beast. She has also won a copy of the Gangsta Granny book, before the show starts tomorrow.
