The duo – Josh Todd and Ed Gutteridge – are busy preparing for their debut night, which takes place at Fareham FC’s Club V on Saturday.

After becoming exasperated with having to travel to either Portsmouth or Southampton for a good night out, the pals – who share a house in Bridgemary – decided to take matters into their own hands.

Ed, 25, said that since they came up with the brainwave, they’ve been busy promoting the event, which will play house music from the 90s up until the present date, and they’ve been buoyed by the reaction.

He said: ‘We’ve got a really good response so far.

‘We’ve been out around the town centre, giving out flyers and speaking to people in shops, and we’ve made a Facebook video that’s got hundreds of comments and views.

‘We are hoping that lots of people turn up but you can never really tell until the night.’

It is the first event the pair have organised together, after they met through their full-time jobs as aircraft fitters at GE Aviation in Southampton.

And they’ve been put all their spare time into planning the night.

Josh, 19, said: ‘I’m really looking forward to it. We’ve been looking forward to it since we decided to do it.

‘We had stumbled across the idea, and realised that there really was not much going on in that area.

‘After a bit of discussion we thought that we would just do it ourselves.’

Both lads can often be found partying at Astoria nightclub in Portsmouth or at Switch in Southampton, although they say it can be costly because of taxi fares.

Although their closest town – Gosport – does have a nightclub, they wanted to bring a fresher sound to a friendly environment aimed at 18 to 35-year-olds.

Ed, who has been a DJ since he was 16, said: ‘We want to make a safe and fun night out.

‘We basically want to show people that we can put on a good club night. We are keeping it as cheap as possible to get as many people down there to show that it can be done and that you can have a good night out in Fareham.’

If successful they hope to make the night a monthly fixture.

The Ultimate House night is being held from 8.30pm until 2am at Club V, at Fareham FC, Cams Alders Recreation Ground, Fareham, on Saturday.

Tickets cost £5 and can be bought on the door. For more information search ‘Deep South Music’ on Facebook.
