With a perfect location of being both right on the coast and at the edge of the South Downs National Park, Portsmouth and its surrounding towns have a whole host of fantastic walks to enjoy this spring.
Here are just some of our favourites:
9. Hilsea Shore Path
The stretch from the Hilsea Lido area to the Mountbatten Centre is the perfect coastal stroll in the north of the city taking in the views and with plenty of places to stop and take a seat and is perfect for those walking or cycling along the route. With a small playground halfway along and the park both Mountbatten and Hilsea Lido it is also perfect for families who can also grab a drink and a snack at the South Coast Wakepark cafe. 10. Portsdown Hill
With just perfect views across the whole of the Solent, Portsdown Hill has plenty of places to explore along the way and is great for short walks with all of the family or a longer ramble if you want to follow the hill and trace the length of the city. The post popular place to park is the carpark in front of the Churchillian. Photo: -
11. Farlington Marshes
In a perfect position at the top of the city, Farlington Marshes is a great choice for a spring stroll with so many birds to see along the way. You can either do the whole circular route, or can cut through the grass for a shorter walk taking in the scenic views. Photo: Contributed
12. Alver Valley Country Park
There is much to enjoy in Gosport's wildlife haven through the changing seasons. With wood walks and ponds to explore - and of course a park for those with children - it really does have it all. There are also toilet facilities and a cafe next to the carpark.Picture: Sarah Standing (180641-3088) Photo: Sarah Standing
