Organisers say this year’s show will be bigger and better with live entertainment, music and a spectacular fireworks display set to a musical soundtrack.

Gunwharf will switch on its brand new Christmas lights and all stores will be open until 9pm to kick start Christmas shopping.

Hosting the evening will be Wave 105, who will keep everyone entertained with a host of hits and three live acts. M.O will be on stage at 6pm to kick start proceedings, and we shall be joined prior to the fireworks by Ward Thomas and JP Cooper.

Viewing points will be located in and around the centre from 6pm. Entertainment will run from 6pm through to 8pm. You can keep up to date with what’s going on through Facebook.

Although this is a free event, and tickets are not required, donations foe Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance will be collected on the night.

Gunwharf’s security team will be on site marshalling to ensure guest safety.

A high turnout is expected and should the centre become full, visitors may be directed away from the site.

The precise time of the fireworks display will not be annouced until the day once weather and conditions have been assessed.

How to get there -

The Gunwharf Quays car park will be open as usual, but it’s expected to be full during the event due to the volume of people likely to attend.

As such, people are being recommended to use an overflow car park at Wickham Street, or take advantage of public transport.

The Wickham Street car park is just a two minute walk away, opposite The Hard Interchange.

It is located off the first right on the roundabout along The Hard or left into Wickham Street off Queen Street (use postcode PO1 3EF for SAT NAV). As with the Gunwharf Quays Car Park, it is fully staffed and secure.

Gunwharf has also joined forces with the park-and-ride in Portsmouth to ensure extra buses are available and that they will be running later especially for the fireworks.
