Why do local politicians seem to think the transport interchange at The Hard, Portsea, Portsmouth, was built in the 1950s?
For it is, of course, from the late 1970s – May 1979 to be precise.
Here we see the interchange, currently being rebuilt, during that opening period, looking down on to The Hard and the old Wimpey Bar.
It is also seven years before HMS Warrior 1860 came in and a jetty was constructed for her use. I cannot understand why the car along the station approach road on the left, which later became the taxi rank, is parked fully on the pavement when there was so little traffic about.
