Portsmouth's Bar 38 to close its doors today

POPULAR cocktail bar and restaurant, Bar 38 has announced tonight will be its last night before closing its doors.

The bar in Gunwharf Quays will shut officially today at 5pm and then undergo a four week refurbishment before reopening under a new name and concept in March.

Manager Dale Clark told The News: ‘We have been trading here for 15 years and the company has decided they are going to spend a bit of money on us and the refurbishment will include new upstairs and downstairs bar area and the outside.

‘Then we will open with roughly the same team in March with a new concept which we will be releasing details about in the next few days.’

The bar announced its closure on Facebook and scores of customers have expressed their sadness.

Dale added: ‘People on Facebook are devastated about us closing but I think everyone will be really excited for our new bar.’
