Man charged after Gosport assault

DETECTIVES have charged a man after another man suffered a serious head injury in an assault.

Harry Stone, 24, of Mumby Road, Gosport, has been charged with grievous bodily harm without intent, assault causing actual bodily harm, two counts of common assault, and obstructing police.

He has been remanded to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

The injured man, also 24, remains in hospital being treated for a serious head injury.

A 21 year-old man and a 26 year-old woman, both from Gosport, who were arrested in connection with obstructing police have both been bailed until August 22.

Police were called to a report of members of the public being assaulted in North Cross Street shortly after 11.30pm.
