Gosport base turns 60
NINE former commanding officers of HMS Sultan will unite together as the base marks its 60th anniversary on Monday.
The former chiefs will be treated to a special commemorative lunch and tour of modern facilities at the Gosport site.
The base has changed enormously since opening on June 1, 1956.
The site is now home to the HQ of the Defence College of Technical Training, which includes the Defence School of Marine Engineering and the Royal Naval Air Engineering and Survival School.
