A NEW series of films is being launched to showcase the broader role of firefighters.
While they are best known for responding to 999 calls to tackle fires and other emergency incidents, in recent years the service has developed its prevention role considerably.
A new three-minute film, produced by West Sussex Fire and Rescue service, highlights how firefighters’ home safety visits are helping thousands of people.
Some people are eligible for free smoke detectors and sometimes the service will fit them.
Neil Stocker, area manager, said: ‘Our ability to make a difference to communities in West Sussex goes far beyond our first-class emergency response service.’
