Man dies in car park fall near Tesco store in Portsmouth

A man died after falling from a multi-storey car park in Portsmouth city centre today.

Police confirmed that the man has died as the result of his injuries in the tragedy near to the Tesco superstore in Crasswell Street.

Hampshire Constabulary spokesman Chris Gregory said: ‘We were called at 10.30am to Crasswell Street due to a fear for welfare incident.

‘We can confirm that upon arrival we found a man with serious injuries who has subsequently died.’
Police confirmed that they are not treating the death as suspicious and that a file is being prepared for the coroner.

An air ambulance was also at the scene.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman added: ‘We got the call at 10.24am.

‘We sent an ambulance officer, two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance crew and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

‘Sadly on patient, a gentleman, has been confirmed deceased at the scene.’
