Southsea mum stars as Radio 1 co-presenter with Nick Grimshaw

MANY listeners would relish the chance to star as a co-host on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

And that’s exactly what Southsea mum Kerry-ann O’Brien got to do today with the popular Nick Grimshaw.

Kerry-ann helped Grimmy steer the morning agenda in place of Nick Jonas, who was delayed and couldn’t appear live on air on the show.

Listeners were asked around 6.30am today if they fancied taking his place and featuring live over the phone, and Kerry-ann was chosen after texting in.

And it was a memorable occasion for Kerry-ann, as she got to chat to Game of Thrones star Kit Harington.

She also played the good morning game, where those on air talk during the intro of a song before the vocals kick in.

Kerry also enjoyed a bit of banter with Grimmy about an old Victoria Beckham album and got to choose a song to play – her choice being Where Is The Love? by The Black Eyed Peas.

The 25-year-old office worker said: ‘It was awesome.

‘I’ve been on before and spoken to Grimmy a couple of times. I am a bit keen on the radio. I love it.

‘I wasn’t that nervous to be honest, as I didn’t think that many people would be listening at that time in the morning. It was not until I got to speak to Kit Harington that I got nervous. I am a big fan of Game of Thrones.

‘Me and my friend have been in a dispute about a rumour we’d heard that in the auditions for the Jon Snow character, it came down to Kit and the actor who plays Ramsay Bolton.

‘But he didn’t know the answer, which was a shame.’
