Met Office issue weekend weather warnings as Storm Alex hits the south coast

A yellow weather warning for wind and rain is in place until 8pm this evening (October 2). With Storm Alex currently centred over the Channel Islands the Met Office have warned of wind gusts of up to 50mph and heavy rain.
While winds are forecast to drop across the weekend yellow weather warnings for heavy rain remain in place for the region on Saturday and Sunday with the heaviest spells of rain expected to hit Portsmouth in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Hide AdThe warnings indicate potential disruption to travel and a risk of flooding to homes and businesses.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service have already warned about the potential danger of falling trees and debris on roads while Hovertravel has currently suspended its services due to the adverse weather. Passengers are advised to check the Hovertravel website for updates.
