A MAN fell on to train tracks and narrowly avoided serious injury after an oncoming train stopped just in time.
Eyewitness Stuart Southwell said it looked as though the man accidentally fell on the tracks at Fratton station.
It happened just before 11.50am.
The 30-year-old, of Southsea, said: ‘They managed to stop the train in time but I think he was a bit shaken up.
‘They got the person off the line.
‘It looked like it was an accident.
‘I was walking over the footbridge and heard this commotion going on and saw somebody on the line.
‘There was a train coming and they managed to stop it.’
Hampshire police are at the scene.
British Transport Police have been asked to comment.
