A COMMUNITY centre in Southsea will finally undergo a long-awaited revamp.

The Frank Sorrell Centre in Prince Albert Road will see rebuilding work start on Tuesday, August 30, with the end goal of transforming it into a more welcoming venue for activities and events.

The new windows and heating system will improve the comfort and warmth of the building, benefiting everyone who uses it.

Reconstruction will include the installation of PVC double-glazed windows and a brand new boiler.

The work, which is being managed by the Portsmouth Disability Forum, costs £13,000 and is mostly being covered by The Veolia Environmental Trust.

Lynne Rigby, principal officer for the Portsmouth Disability Forum, said: ‘The new windows and heating system will improve the comfort and warmth of the building, benefiting everyone who uses it.’
