Walkabout to explore area

A WALKABOUT to recognise and celebrate Portsmouth's heritage will take place later this month.

The Portsea Heritage Walk will take place on Saturday, April 22 and will be led by Dr Ann Coats of the University of Portsmouth.

The lecturer in heritage property has run the Portsea Heritage Project for four years to engage students in the history of the area.

Her route will explore a trail from The Hard to Victoria Park connecting heritage and green places.

It is a free event that will last about two hours and starts at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard gate from 10am.

Organisers are advising those attending to wear weatherproof clothes and sturdy shoes if weather is bad because of uneven pavements.
