Bentley is due to be honoured at the National Game Awards on Friday for finishing as top goalscorer in non league football last season.

‘He is still only 25 years old and is a terrific signing for us,’ said Pike.

‘We have signed him on a two year deal.’

‘I know for a fact that he was watched by Luton Town, Dagenham & Redbridge and Notts County last season.

‘His arrival is another reason why I am already excited about next season.

Pike finally got his man after failing in his attempt to sign the striker in January.

P.E teacher Bentley however still harbours ambitions of moving into the professional game and now sees Gosport Borough as a stepping stone of achieving that.

Bentley is expected to partner recent new arrival Chris Flood who was signed from Basingstoke Town last week.
