Have a cracking time with Wallace & Gromit at The Watercress Line
Cheese lovers, hobby hunters and heritage railway fans are all in for a truly ‘grate’ experience when The Watercress Line in Hampshire welcomes the nation’s favourite eccentric inventor and his loyal four-legged friend for a weekend of ‘Cracking Hobbies’.
Aardman’s Wallace & Gromit will be appearing at Ropley Station on 27 and 28 September – so get ready to say ‘cheese’ for your photo opportunity with the much-loved duo.
And anyone wanting “More Cheese Gromit’, can tuck into an indulgent Cheesy Afternoon Tea of various cheese-filled goodies, and take part in a free Wallace & Gromit themed activity trail.
The weekend’s ‘Cracking Hobbies’ include ‘Railways on the Air’ at Ropley Waiting Shelter – celebrating Railway 200, it’s a chance for visitors to find out more about amateur radio and talk to other railways across the country!
There will be hands-on activities with local Scout and Guide groups; a fun Children’s Trail at Ropley and a Train Track Challenge at Alresford.
Families can enjoy The Watercress Line’s delightful miniature railway and speak to the local volunteers who operate it; and take unlimited rides on the wonderful heritage steam trains running along the railway’s scenic 10-mile route.
Don’t miss the chance to visit the Engineering Shed and Carriage Workshop galleries at Ropley to learn more about restoration of steam locomotives and rolling stock.
