Steam Illuminations returns - bigger and brighter than ever - the ultimate festive celebration
The Watercress Line’s spectacular Steam Illuminations is back for 2025 and it’s set to be the most magical year yet, with two unforgettable event themes for visitors of all ages to enjoy on Hampshire’s Heritage Railway.
Running from November 28 to December 28, Christmas Vibes brings an enchanting festive adventure for families and friends to sing, dance and celebrate together. Then, the atmosphere will switch up from 29 December to 4 January 2026, as the railway welcomes in the new year with its Pop Anthems Party Train - the perfect way to step into 2026!
This year, the much-loved steam trains will once again transform into mesmerising moving light shows, wrapped in thousands of synchronised LED lights inside and out.
A vibrant new singalong soundtrack and dynamic visual display will immerse passengers in colour, rhythm and excitement from the moment they step aboard. Every ticket includes a complimentary LED wristband, making everyone a glowing part of the show as the illuminated train glides through the Hampshire countryside.
New for 2025, passengers can expect brilliant entertainment with live onboard performers, enhancing the festive party mood. Outside the train, look out for the Snow Cascade, expanded Christmas Courtyard for festive nibbles and drinks, and the hilarious Talking and Singing Christmas Trees making a joyful return.
Rebecca Dalley, CEO of The Watercress Line, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome back Steam Illuminations for 2025 - and we’ve made it even more magical than ever before. With brand new shows for our Christmas and Pop Anthems themes, plus enhanced lighting and live entertainment, this year promises unforgettable festive fun for everyone.
