Theatre announces reopening date with 'sensational season of shows'

A THEATRE has announced its reopening date amid lockdown restrictions easing with a ‘sensational season of shows’ lined up.

The Mayflower Theatre in Southampton has announced it will open its doors once again on June 25.

The summer kicks off with a brand new dance show, Draw From Within, from the company Rambert.

Throughout the summer there will also be musicals including the Rocky Horror Show, SIX, Blood Brothers, Ghost and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Following Draw from Within, on June 27 Hair the Musical in Concert celebrates sixties counterculture. The concert version, directed by former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips, will include an energetic rock beat with songs like Aquarius, Good Morning, Starshine, Hair, I Got Life, and Let The Sun Shine.

The West End and Broadway hit musical Hairspray starring Brenda Edwards and Norman Pace bounces into the theatre from July 26-31 offering a feel-good night out.

Also featuring at the theatre is the Summer Youth Production for 2021 - a feel-good stage musical based on the Cliff Richard film Summer Holiday from August 27-28 featuring over 150 local young performers.

Dolly Parton's West End hit 9 to 5 The Musical rounds out the summer holidays from August 31 September 4.
