Anime and cosplay festival coming to Portsmouth next month

FANS of anime, cosplay and manga are in for a treat next month as a gaming festival rolls into town.

Hundreds of fanatics are expected to flock to the Portsmouth Anime & Gaming Con to enjoy live music, special guests and talks at the Marriott Hotel in Cosham for the two-day event.

The extravaganza may feature an anime viewing room, cosplay blind date, lip sync battle and gaming tournaments.

A full timetable of activities will be released a month before the event, which will take place on Saturday February 29 and Sunday March 1 at the Marriott Hotel, Southampton Road, PO6 4SH.

Stars appearing at the convention include singer and dancer Koneko, The RPG Pianist, Grace Mellody, who performs songs from Japanese idol groups and south London electro-pop duo Sugoi ne.

The Improv Comedy Show will also be taking the stage featuring host comedian David Pustanksy and the extreme improv team who will make up hilarious scenes, songs and stories all with an anime and gaming theme based entirely on audience suggestions.

Karaoke and themed parties including rock night, glowstick rave and video gaming, will take place in the evenings and this year’s final line-up of night time events will be confirmed later this month.

Online tickets are currently discounted to £19 for both days, £12 for just Saturday (11am – 1am) and £9 for Sunday (11am - midnight) entry only.

Tickets will also be available on the door.

All ages are allowed but anyone under 16 must be accompanied with an adult as some events may contain adult themes and language intended for a more mature audience.Attendees must have ID and be 18+ if wish to be served at the bar.Anyone under 18 may not attend the event past 8pm as the evening activities are 18+ only.
