John took time out of his busy schedule to talk about his career at the bi-monthly breakfast meeting of Verisona Law’s Portsmouth Young Professionals group.

John, who rose to fame on daytime television through programmes such as Cash In The Attic, Bargain Hunt and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, explained to the audience how he identified and took full advantage of opportunities that developed his career in antique valuation and auctions.

John also gave an insight into how he manages his television work, commercial business and renowned local auctioneers firm Nesbits.

‘I think the most striking thing about John’s talk was how open and honest he was with the group,’ said Danielle Rushton, marketing manager for legal firm Verisona Law, which is based at 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour, Portsmouth.

‘From his background growing up in Portsmouth and obvious gratitude to people who gave him his first opportunities, to what he has learned through his more recent media career and experiencing the world of celebrity, he gave a fascinating account of his professional life to date.’

The Portsmouth Young Professionals group meets every other month for breakfast at The Pavilion Café in Clarence Esplanade, Southsea.

The group was founded and is organised by Verisona Law to provide the opportunity for attendees to share knowledge and experience of working in the area.

‘We were very pleased with how many local firms and businesses were represented,’ said Danielle.

‘We are already making plans for the next event.’
