Bar + Block Steakhouse is coming to Portsmouth - here's when it will open

A NEW steakhouse is set to arrive in the city centre in the coming weeks

Whitbread have announced that Bar + Block Steakhouse will open in March, in Queen Street.

It had originally been scheduled to open on February 27 but that has been pushed back.

The 165-cover restaurant will be located next to the Portsmouth Dockyard Hotel, Premier Inn.

Bar + Block will be open all-day, seven days a week, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Whitbread promise that it places an emphasis on delivering high-quality steaks at affordable prices.

Unsurprisingly the restaurant puts steak at the heart of its extensive menu, featuring rotating specials from the Butcher’s Block, grazing plates and handmade burgers prepared on-site using prime beef.

The restaurant also has a wide selection of drinks, with a focus on craft beers, specially curated wines and innovative cocktails with seasonal specials.

Joanna Spencer, senior brand & marketing manager from Whitbread Restaurants said: ‘Situated in a prime city location in close vicinity to the popular Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, we are looking forward to expanding the Bar + Block brand in Portsmouth, which will be our fourteenth site and our first opening in 2020.’

Launched in 2016, Bar + Block also have a restaurant at Whiteley Shopping Centre.
