Best Loved Salon Awards celebrate best in the industry across Portsmouth and Hampshire

MEMBERS of the beauty community got glammed up for a night of celebrations at an awards ceremony.

The second annual Best Loved Salon Awards were held at the Macdonald Botley Park Hotel bringing together the best in the industry.

The awards were held by Kerrie Humphrys, from Fareham who founded beauty comparison site Locate Your Look.

Founded in 2018, it is a website on which customers can both review and scrutinise salon companies, in order to ensure they are adequate and have sufficient training and has been called the beauty industry’s equivalent of Checkatrade.

The Best Loved Salon Awards were founded with the aim of giving hair and beauty professionals the recognition they deserve and showcasing the business.

There were eight awards up for grabs, such as Best Loved Nail Technician and Best Loved Aesthetics Practitioner, with winners being picked by the salon or clinic’s customers.

Niki Sulaiman, who owns Sero Aesthetics and Wellbeing in Waterlooville took home the award for Best Loved Aesthetics Practitioner and said: ‘Kerrie has been fantastic support over the past 10 months. She is passionate and is a brilliant leader in the industry to introduce more regulation and security to the public. Kerrie has been one in a million!’

Natalie Hobbs, who owns Cafe Beautiful in Titchfield and previously Kwik Kuts in Fareham took home Best Loved Beauty Therapist.

She said: ‘Kerrie has been the mum that left, she is the friend with advice, the business partner with support, the inspiration that's very much needed in this industry, confirming that customer service is the key in an industry that's so competitive.’

It is the second year the awards – which were on Saturday, January 18 – have taken place, after founder of the website, Kerrie set them up to give something back to the salon and clinic owners.

Monthly awards are also handed to salons depending on how many five-star reviews they get.

The 48-year-old has worked in the industry for nearly 34 years, and is the previous owner of two salons in Park Gate and Locks Heath.
