Chefs can gain recognition

ASIAN and Oriental restaurants are being urged to put their chefs forward for a national award.

Nominations are open for the UK Asian & Oriental Chef of the Year, which will be presented at a ceremony in the Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons on Monday, May 15.

The judging panel includes a number of well-known celebrities and Asian Catering Federation committee members who will visit the short-listed chefs for judging.

They will be judged on criteria such as innovation, technical skills, nutrition value, food hygiene, creativity and taste.

Top 20 short-listed chefs will be invited to receive their awards from their MP or a celebrity at the Asian Catering Federation House of Commons Reception.

The event will also launch the seventh Asian Curry Awards, due to take place on November 12 in London.
