Facilities and cleaning firm Citrus FM is saving 7,000 plastic bottles a year from landfill by kitting out staff in uniforms made from recycled plastic.

The uniforms have been rolled out following a full trial in 2021 and are made from a blend of plastic bottles and organic cotton, making them 100 per cent sustainable.

Each shirt is made from around seven bottles, which will save thousands of bottles from landfill and reduce the need for energy and resources to manufacture new clothing whilst making Citrus a greener company.

Citrus had been inspired by Portsmouth International Port, which has rolled out a large green strategy over the last few years.

Operations director Liam Hibberd said: ‘We are very proud to be rolling out recycled uniforms across our cleaning division and hope that the small changes in our business will help the local community across Portsmouth and our environment.’
