Asda Waterlooville donates essential items to help food bank serve more than 70 people a week

ESSENTIAL items for those who need it most are being collected by supermarket staff and customers to help support a food bank.

With the support of customers and colleagues at Asda Waterlooville, community champion Jacqui Benham is helping to gather as much as possible to keep supplies up for Waterlooville Food Bank.

Volunteer Deborah Dark gave Jacqui a list of items which were in particular demand so the community could receive the items they needed the most.

Deborah said: ‘We can’t thank Asda Waterlooville customers and colleagues enough – without their assistance we would not be able to support those in need.

Asda is supporting food banks throughout the country by donating £5m to its charity partners FareShare and the Trussell Trust to help the country’s most vulnerable people through Covid-19.

Community champion Jacqui said: ‘We are so pleased to be able to help provide food and essentials to people in the community.

‘Given the current situation, the food banks have been running low on certain essential items, we have been able to donate these which will be distributed to those who are struggling in our local area. I’d like to say a big thank you to our customers and colleagues for their generous donations.’
