Utopia Desserts opened in a unit at Fareham Shopping Centre, in West Street, at the end of last year after getting a change of use on the unit, formerly occupied by Boots Opticians.

However, after months spent with most of the town closed, and the family business just able to do deliveries, the store held its official opening this week.

The shop, which is run by siblings Monty, Jimmy, Simran and their father Bhupinder Taak, serves waffles, crepes, sundaes, hot drinks and more – all of which can be tailored with a wide range of toppings and flavours.

They say they are now looking forward to seeing more people as trade picks up following the lifting of lockdown restrictions on Monday, meaning non-essential shops can open.

‘Many of you have let us know that a dessert parlour is something that Fareham needed and we are happy to be of service.’

Simran said: ‘We really can’t wait to have everyone here to try our delicious desserts.’

Mike Taylor, centre manager of Fareham Shopping Centre, said: ‘Fareham Shopping Centre is delighted to announce the recent opening of new store Utopia Desserts, which has already proven to be a fantastic addition to the centre and has quickly developed a loyal customer base.

‘It’s been a challenging time for the high street recently, so it is vital that we support our local businesses more than ever by visiting the high streets and independents when safe to do so.’

The shop’s produce – including Bueno brownies, Biscoff gelato, and banoffee pie waffles, plus much more, is available for delivery through Just Eat.
