The mum-of-three has extensive experience in home care having previously set up two Home Instead offices, one of which is in neighbouring Havant.

Both achieved an Outstanding rating, the highest accolade achievable from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), something she is determined to replicate in Portsmouth.

In her previous career as a primary school teacher, she supported her young pupils to achieve their hopes, dreams and aspirations which is exactly the same support that Helen will provide for the older clients they care for and their wonderful team of caregivers.

Helen said: ‘At Home Instead we pride ourselves on the quality of the home care we provide, we all have hopes and dreams whether a person is eight or 88. Our role is to find out what these are and ensure that these goals are met and exceeded with dignity and care.’

Not only is Helen experienced in the sector, but she has also had personal experience of the benefits of home care.

She said: ‘I experienced first-hand the value of home care when we needed support when my mother was in the later stages of her life. Although she was so unwell, we could still see just how it helped with her overall wellbeing, at what was such a difficult time for us all.’

Home Instead is looking for caregivers to join the team who will help support seniors to continue to live in their own homes, providing services ranging from home help and companionship, to housework and shopping. No previous experience is needed as full training is provided.

Helen said: ‘I’m so excited to be able to bring our special blend of care to Portsmouth and the surrounding areas, and to be able to create so many new jobs in this wonderful city, I know so well!’
