His plans for the centre had been delayed by the coronavirus restrictions, but finally came to fruition on Friday, just in time for the festive season.
Head of business development Deborah Mills said: ‘It was very busy. We weren’t quite expecting so many to come and support us, but it was so great that they did.
‘We were so busy with lots of people buying Christmas trees. Everybody loved them and we had some really nice comments about what good quality they were.

‘We have a great relationship with our supplier, who is only up the road near Winchester, so we get the very best Christmas trees on offer.’
The centre, which has 10 staff, has a large Christmas decoration display, and it also stock plants, outdoor furniture, garden buildings, fencing, and garden supplies.
Outdoor building firm Abbey Garden Buildings also has a large display, and the centre has a new coffee lounge called the Summerhouse, which is due to open shortly.

Deborah said that as well as Christmas decorations, the centre has been especially busy with people buying outdoor furniture.

‘Many people are thinking ahead, and if we have another lockdown, these people will be prepared and won’t have to miss out on seeing their friends and family, and sitting outdoors with a cup of tea and catching up.’
Deborah said the business was hugely grateful for the custom, and that she was proud of the team who all pulled together to get the centre ready.

She said: ‘It was a huge family team effort, all the team working together.’
