McDonald’s is reopening all of its drive-thrus in the UK and Ireland in the coming days.

The restaurants across the Portsmouth area will open between Tuesday and Thursday.

It comes after the fast food giant shut all of its sites in late March as the country went into lockdown.

In recent weeks the company has opened several drive-thru restaurants as a pilot.

However McDonald’s has announced it will be opening the remain 924 drive-thrus from tomorrow.

When will the drive-thrus open again?

Between June 2 and June 4, the remaining McDonald’s drive-thru restaurants will reopen in the UK and Ireland.

The fast food giant will confirm the locations that are reopening each morning from tomorrow.

These announcements will be made on McDonald’s social media channels and its website.

What safety measures will be in place?

In a post on social media, McDonald’s wrote: ‘In order to allow for social distancing, we will have fewer employees in our kitchen and service areas.

‘To help our smaller teams, we will be offering a limited menu over reduced hours (11am to 10pm).

‘We continue to ask that you limit your spend to £25 and use contactless payment methods wherever possible.

‘Our teams are adjusting to new safety and hygiene procedures, which will help them to work safely and social distance, we appreciate your continued patience.

‘We are delighted to be returning to communities across the UK and Ireland, but it will look different and take a little longer. Please bear with us.’

The fast food giant will also add 75 restaurants to McDelivery via Uber Eats or Just Eat.
