POLICE were called to a Fareham pub to break up an illegal birthday party.

Officers were sent out to the Delme Arms in Cams Hill at 11pm after being told by nearby residents that a party was being held.

‘All nine, four women and five men, were reported for summons in relation to a fixed penalty notice for a breach of the Health Protection Regulations.

‘Our licensing team will now be engaging with the licensee.’

A witness said that a police van and two police cars had arrived at the pub and that officers had been banging on the door for at least an hour before they were let in.

Under the rules of the current lockdown, pubs must be shut except for takeaway food and non-alcoholic drinks, and households are not allowed to mix.
