Non-essential retail was allowed to reopen today after being closed since being ordered to close in the city before Christmas, as tier four restrictions came into force.
The reopening of the high street and major retailers like Primark has seen shoppers flock back this morning.

Hide AdIt has resulted at queues across Portsmouth and in the surrounding towns like Fareham.
But it is not just shops that have seen queues, barbers have also seen lines including in Southsea.
Here are the businesses that have had lines this morning:
- Primark in Commercial Road, Portsmouth – has seen a huge queue this morning, stretch back down the high street
- Debenhams in Fareham Shopping Centre
- Nike Factory Outlet in Gunwharf Quays – over a hundred people waiting in line
- The North Face, Gunwarf Quays
- Ted Baker, Gunwharf Quays
- Calvin Klein, Gunwharf Quays
- Ralph Lauren, Gunwharf Quays
- Clarks, Gunwharf Quays
- Top Barbers, Southsea
