Queen's Hotel reveals what post-lockdown makeover could look like with 2 new shops

The doors to the Queen’s Hotel in Osborne Road, Southsea, are shut but members of the management team have been dreaming of the future.

The hotel’s in-house design team has been working hard on a new look for the bar and restaurant as well as a new conference and events suite on the lower floor.

Staff have now shared concept designs for what the transformation could look like.

Managing director Farid Yeganeh said: ‘We think the designs will take the hotel to the next level of luxury and sophistication.

‘Their vision acknowledges the regal history of this beautiful Edwardian building, while very much looking to the future.

‘They have created a signature look that will make dining at the Queen’s Hotel such a special occasion, whether you are popping in for lunch or celebrating a special occasion.’

The makeover will pair vintage furniture and luxurious fabrics, the Queen’s Hotel has said.

The hotel has also been granted permission for two new shops in Osborne Road – one of which will be a cafe where top pastry chefs will create delicious treats.

There will also be a destination spa in the basement of the hotel with a leisure pool, and ornate new entrances for the conference rooms and apartment owners.

Mr Yeganeh is also looking to safeguard the majority of the building as a hotel with six penthouse apartments on a new fifth floor.

He explained: ‘I see myself as a custodian of this beautiful building and I want to do all I can to keep her as a hotel for future generations to enjoy.

‘The desire is to have up to 104 bedrooms and for her to be Southsea’s only four-star hotel.’

An application has been lodged with the city council which would see the currently derelict fourth floor brought back into use for the hotel and a fifth floor and new roof added.
