Southsea pub The Wave Maiden closes down citing 'detrimental effects' of Covid-19

A POPULAR Portsmouth bar known for its real ale and hearty food has closed down.

The Wave Maiden, in Osborne Road, Southsea, shut on Sunday night.

A Facebook post said: ‘Last night was our final “time at the bar”. The detrimental effects from Covid-19 have become too much for our small independent family business to recover from.

‘It is our hope that someone can take it on and keep her going in a format sympathetic to what we’ve created so watch this space for updates.
